Okay, so the batizado was good. I have moved up in rank and now am a yellow cord. I can't believe it! I honestly never thought I would get to yellow. But I'm here : ) I'm just beginning to understand the game of capoeira which in many ways is like the game of life.
Capoeira is incredibly challenging. I think that's why I love it. When you finally master a move or have a good game you feel so good! This year my biggest challenge was not training. Slowing down and taking care of myself was almost as hard as training with asthma which by the way is pure hell and incredibly stupid and dangerous.
So the pictures from the batizado kind of suck. A fellow student took them and I'm sorry to say I don't know his name : ) Thanks guy with dreadlocks : )
Next year, my friends and family are going to have to represent in larger numbers so that we have multiple shots from multiple angles : )

The next shot is one of a game between me and Takeshi. Love ya Takeshi. Bob Marley!
The last three shots are of me spelling out different words with my cord. Always the creative one! : )
The first shot says 'Coruja' which means 'owl'.
The next shot says 'Yes' which mean 'yes.'
The last shot says 'Wow' which means 'wow'.
And wow! I made it. To a healthy and happy future in capoeira! Such a beautiful art form!

Okay so this blog is totally out of order. . .at least chronological order that is. . .here are some shots from my trip to Brasil in 2004. . .the far left is one of the many amazing rodas. . .we were seeing so many rodas everyday we got spoiled. . .I get back to NYC and I'm like. . .where are the rodas? So I came across this video by recommendation of another vox member. It's great because its from my capoeira group-ABADA. In the center of the joda you can see my teacher Mestranda Edna Lima. Also, in the center of the joda is Mestre Camisa, the Mestre of the group. I love this video because it really showcases ABADA's style and you can see some really good games! Lots of good female capoeristas, too. You can see Mestranda Marcia, Escoleta, and a really tall, long legged girl (sorry : ) who I haven't met yet : ) Anyway. . .enjoy! : )
